This monograph contains findings on the first study to examine how the emerging occupation of judicial branch educator claims professional status over time. Based on a classical approach to defining a "profession", which assumes that the acquisition of certain elements bestows or denies professional status, it analyzes eight elements that illustrate the importance of defining the work in question, establishing its knowledge base, determining its boundaries, knowing the value of the owrk to others, and identifying what obstacles and strengths an occupation possesses as it strives to acquire professional stuatus.
