Trapping the Data: An Assessment of Domestic Relations Mediation in Maine and Ohio Courts and Implementation of an Information System

"Trapping the Data" was a project proposed jointly by the Supreme Courts of Ohio & Maine. The purpose of the project was to design and implement an Information System involving collection of data related to court-connected family mediation programs. "Implementation of an Information System" reflects the experiences of 6 different Common Pleas Domestic Relations Courts in Ohio; describes the System developed & implemented by the project; summarizes the salient experiences of county domestic relations courts that have implemented the system; and provides suggestions/guidance that may facilitate the useful adoption of this System. "An Assessment of Domestic Relations Mediation ..." examines domestic relations mediation in 13 courts in Maine and 6 in Ohio. All contested domestic relations cases involving children were required to try mediation and asked to complete a questionnaire at the end of the mediation session. This manual presents the findings.
