Managing Caseflow in State Intermediate Appellate Courts: What Mechanisms, Practices, and Procedures Can Work to Reduce Delay?

This report focused on how appeals are processed in six intermediate appellate courts--2 in Ohio, 2 in Washington State, and the statewide courts in Maryland and New Mexico. It presents basic information about workloads, resources, operating procedures, and case processing time in these 6 courts, and documents a number of difficulties in making cross-jurisdictional comparisons of appellate case processing times.
