This report contains the results of a study of the characteristics of attorneys who apply for and are appointed to the state court bench in Alaska. The project attempts to answer questions frequently asked by those charged with nominating, appointing and evaluating state court judges. What types of attorneys are nominated and appointed to judicial prositions? Does a certain type of education or experience correlate with nomination and appointement to the bench? This report also analyzes whether certain characteristics of those who apply and are appointed are related to performance on the bench.
